Welcome to Mountain Springs Kennels!
Thanks for taking time to look around our site. We are located in Texas, about an hour north of Dallas. We live on a farm with horses, dogs and lots of room for running.
One question I always get asked is how I got into showing and breeding dogs. The answer might surprise you. I started my life of show animals in horses! I showed Pleasure, Hunt Seat and Halter horses (AQHA, APHA) for over 20 years. It was my passion. I had several world champions and made many great memories!
I no longer show horses but still have my trusted Quarter Horse "Cowboy" who is a cutting horse and great trail horse . . . and of course there's Sadie the pony.
I've always loved dogs, and I think my horse showing experience naturally led me to showing dogs. I've been competing and showing dogs for over 10 years now. My breed expertise is in Australian Shepherds and Keeshonds.
Although I no longer breed Keshonds, I still love the breed.
The Australian Shepherd is a very stoic devoted breed. They are extremely intelligent, hard-working, protective, and loyal to the point that they become your shadow. My first "heart" dog was an Aussie.
As I gained more experience in the show arena, I slowly progressed into breeding. Showing dogs makes you understand the breeds in ways that make you want to try to perfect and maintain the breed standards. I only breed a few litters per year of the Aussies as I breed for quality not quantity and only to improve the breed. Whether you want a puppy to show or just as a family companion, I am always available to provide advice and top quality puppies!
